Project: New Building on Stanford Campus, Concept Design

A New Building for the Land Buildings and Real Estate department at Stanford University. A combined maintenance and office facility designed specifically to integrate all levels of employees from technician to CEO through the use of a dedicated mezzanine 'Mixing Floor.'

To avoid the Upstairs/Downstairs trap of such multifunctional buildings, the 'Mixing Floor' is placed so that it overlooks the fabrication and high density storage space and is placed below the office floor. All amenities are on the 'Mixing Floor' forcing people both up and down to access thereby placing all on equal footing so that an honest exchange can be achieved.

There are no territories or status symbols on the 'Mixing Floor' to facilitate open dialogue and inclusive behavior.
